Pressotherapy – Lymphatic Drainage for Lighter Legs and Better Wellbeing

A modern lifestyle, prolonged sitting, lack of movement, standing work and tight clothing place significant strain on our venous and lymphatic systems. The result is a feeling of heavy legs, swollen ankles, fatigue and often a more pronounced appearance of cellulite.

Pressotherapy is one of the most effective non-invasive methods that, with the help of air sleeves, accelerates lymphatic flow, improves circulation and helps the body eliminate excess fluid. In combination with an infrared sauna and EMS, it becomes a comprehensive treatment for lymphatic drainage, supporting body contouring and overall wellbeing.

What is pressotherapy and how it works

Pressotherapy is an apparatus-based lymphatic drainage that uses special sleeves for the legs, abdomen, sides or arms. These are divided into multiple air chambers that fill and empty with air in a predetermined sequence. This creates rhythmic pressure waves from the feet towards the torso.

This wave-like pressure mimics manual lymphatic drainage and:

  • stimulates venous and lymphatic flow,
  • helps drain excess fluid and metabolic waste,
  • relieves swollen and tired legs,
  • improves the feeling of lightness in the body.

As it is a non-invasive and painless treatment, pressotherapy is also suitable for those who do not like intense manual massages or more intensive apparatus-based procedures.

Pressotherapy, Infrared Sauna and EMS – Why the combination?

In our salon, we use a next-generation device that combines three technologies in one treatment:

  • Far infrared – gently warms the body from the inside out, accelerates circulation and supports tissue relief.
  • Pressotherapy – with air sleeves, it accelerates venous and lymphatic flow and helps eliminate excess fluid.
  • EMS – with electrical impulses, it activates muscles, accelerates local metabolism and helps firm muscle groups.

Together, they work synergistically: the heat prepares the tissues, pressotherapy gets the lymphatic system moving, and EMS provides additional muscle activation and energy expenditure. The treatment is particularly suitable as part of body contouring programs in combination with cavitation, lipolaser or radiofrequency.

The course of pressotherapy in the salon

  1. Consultation and program selection
The aesthetician reviews your desires, such as heavy legs, cellulite, lymphatic drainage or support for weight loss, as well as your health condition. Together, they select a suitable program.
  2. Preparation and application
The client comfortably lies down on a treatment couch, then the IR garment, air sleeves and EMS electrodes (if needed) are applied.
  3. Treatment
The infrared system gradually warms the body, the sleeves create pressure waves, and EMS causes rhythmic muscle contractions.
  4. Conclusion and recommendations
After the treatment, the legs usually feel lighter, with a sense of relaxation and pleasant warmth in the body. It is recommended to drink plenty of water and, if necessary, to continue with a series of treatments.

Who is pressotherapy for

  • people with a feeling of heavy, tired or swollen legs,
  • those who stand or sit for long periods,
  • clients with water retention cellulite or fluid retention,
  • body contouring programs,
  • recovery after intensive sports activities by appointment,
  • as support for the lymphatic system in cases of poor circulation.

It is not suitable for everyone. In certain health conditions, such as cardiovascular diseases, some venous disorders, advanced varicose veins or pregnancy, a consultation is essential and the treatment is often contraindicated.

Benefits of pressotherapy

  • Relief from heavy legs – less swelling and a lighter feeling in the legs.
  • Support for the lymphatic and venous systems – faster transport of fluids and metabolic waste.
  • Support for cellulite – improved microcirculation and lymphatic flow help reduce the appearance of cellulite.
  • Relaxing effect – the rhythmic pressure acts like a deep, uniform massage.
  • Support for body contouring – the body more easily processes and breaks down fats and excess fluid.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments depends on the goal. For a feeling of light legs and short-term relief, a series of a few visits is often sufficient, while for cellulite, fluid retention and body contouring, we usually recommend a program of 6 to 10 treatments. To maintain results, occasional visits are ideal, for example once a month or by appointment.

The best results are achieved when pressotherapy is combined with a balanced diet, adequate water intake and at least minimal physical activity.
